NT Authority system+ Generic Host process

Hi, When windows has loaded, before I can begin to redownload service pck 2,
I get the msg NT Authority system is shutting down in ... secs. windows then
closes and comes back up, where I then get Generic Host Process encountered a
problem and is closing, then NTA etc again, Have tried restore point but
restoration is always incomplete, sorry to be such a plonker about pcs, any
help or ideas would be great.

Turn on your firewall before going online! You're getting infected before
you can acquire SP2. "Blaster" is the usual culprit but there are others
that generate this error message as well.

Also, do yourself a favor - download SP2 from here:

Burn that to a CD and keep it on hand. Whenever you need to reinstall XP,
disconnect from the internet. Install XP. Check that it's running okay
(staying offline!) and then run this SP2 CD. The default setting in SP2 is
"firewall on" so it's safe to re-establish the online connection once it's
installed. Next steps are to get your security software installed and then
drivers.

Alternatively, if you have a retail XP CD or a generic OEM CD, you can
create a "slipstreamed CD" that combines XP original with SP2. There are
several tools available to help with this. Personally, I used the
directions at the following site to create mine:
