NPROTECT (can't delete files)

Larry

I have 5.7GB of apparently deleted files in the folder
NPROTECT, found in the hidden RECYCLERS Directory. I want
very much to delete these files and permanently undo
NPROTECT. I expected it to go away when I uninstalled
Norton Antivirus, but it didn't, so apparently it's a
stand-alone program that was used by Norton but is not a
Norton product.

Anybody had this problem, or familiar with the procedures
required to get rid of NPROTECT and put ME back in control
for a change?

Thanks,
Larry

I believe that NPROTECT is part of nortons system works
protected recycle bin (it used to retrieve deleted files
that you wish to recover). If you dont have system works I
dont know how you have that file?
Try right clicking on your recycle bin and see if their
is an option "empty norton protected files" if their is
this should clear up your 5.7 gigs
Good Luck

This sounds like the Norton Protected Recycle Bin, a feature of Norton
System Works. Do you still have System Works installed?

Thanks, malke. I removed Norton Systemworks 2 months ago,
but apparently it didn't completely uninstall.

I guess I might need to try reinstalling Systemworks so I
can permanently delete the files from NPROTECT.

Then I can, once again, uninstall Systemworks and check to
see if NPROTECT is still hanging on.

If it is, I'll need some kind of adjustment in
Administrative Services, or a Registry tweak, or
something, because I sure don't want it hanging around any
more.

Go to www.ztreewin.com , and get the shareware program'
( no need to install , just uncompress )
You'll get a graphical interface to run in the DOS emulated
environement .
Navigate to the Recycled\ NProtect folder and delete whatever you
want.
