My main hard drive died a while back, and I had to set up windows xp on the
secondary drive. I was then able to recover most of the data from what was
the primary. One of the things I've been having problems with is my video
players. None of them will play the videos they used to play, or even
streaming videos from web sites. I get no video but the sound is playing
perfectly. There are no error messages, ie "you need a codec to play this
etc)

What I've already done.

Reinstalled my video card and drivers
Downloaded and installed the latest version of all players
Downloaded and installed the latest version of Direct X
Downloaded and installed a video codec package for XP (1.3), and another for
mpeg-2

Now I'm stumped, and pretty damn PO'd.

Harold,

If your dvd player came with dvd playing software
you could load it. If you've lost it download one from
www.doom9.org - they're free.

( XviD v1.0.3 should work nicely.)
