After installing the updates a few days ago, I've noticed
that there are a few changes to my comptuer.

First, when i leave my computer alone for a while, it
goes into screensaver (normal.) But when I move my
mouse, it's no longer showing my desktop, but instead the
blue log-on screen. What's with this?

Second, regarding the notification area (bottom right
corner). Usually, I can change what icons to display
there by right clicking on the taskbar, then to
properties, then under the Notification Area section,
check "Hide inactive icons". Now I can click
on "Customize", but the icons under "Past Items" is all
screwed up! For example, on the row with MSN Messenger,
the icon showing is the one for the printer. The Norton
Antivirus icon doesn't say "Norton Antivirus" beside it,
but instead it says "Netmeeting". Please help!

In previous versions of Windows, you would delete the shelliconcache file in
the Windows directory. After a reboot Windows would rebuild the icon cache
and restore the icons. I have yet to find out how to make XP do the same
thing.
