Hay guys i have a problem. Im not sure what has caused this. I did download a
few bits of freeware which didnt seem to have any viruses. I have Antivirus
and spy blocking software all set up. Im running on windows XP. I am having
problems getting certain bits of software to run, such as msn messenger (The
ordinal 176 could not be located in the dynamic link library OLEAUT32.dll),
windows media player (same as before), my broadband medic (The ordinal 313
could not be located in the dynamic link library OLEAUT32.dll) and when i
restart it mentions something about and .dll file. There may be other things
not working but im sure its all caused by one problem. Im not very advanced
at these things could anyone give me an idea what could fix this. Thanks
alot. Liam

You poor thing, life is so unfair. You were forced to
download freeware that seemed so safe and useful. But you
can't remember what it was or else you would have told us.
But you do have out sympathy. Those evil people at
Microsoft and Intel have conspired to sell you computers and
software that allows you to muck things up. It isn't your
fault, now go vote for Kerry, that won't be your fault
either.

Care to try again, with some useful info.

Knowing what the .dll file error message is would help.

Run these programs to check for spyware/malware. After installing
update them, then boot into safe mode and run them. You should update
and run them weekly.

The .dll message at statup is "The ordinal 314 could not be located in the
dynamic library OLEAUT32.DLL". This is probably just somthing that starts up
when windows up.

You lack a sense of humor. By your own statement, you
installed software that was unknown, then you blamed
Microsoft for problems you created. If you would bother to
say what programs you downloaded and installed and what you
did with those programs [settings, etc.] and what problems
you encountered you might get a useful and not a gentle
wrist slap. But as long as you think that you are not
responsible for the problem, you'll have to suffer some
cutting humor.

BTW, who said anything about my long dead mother and father,
or my 35 years of marriage.
