Nothing works:Recording off audio cd

Ive posted this question a while ago and i have tried all
the advice. none of it has worked.

Basically the problem is that i can not record audio
music from audiocds. i have 2 cd drives and both have the
same problem. this shows me that it is not a hardware
problem. i have unistalled both cddrives and let xp
reinstall them.

I know it has something to do with the codecs but not
knowing what they are or what they do i dont really know
what to do about them. I dont know how to install them or
where to get them from, or more importantly to check that
i have the necessary ones. I know i deleted some things
from the audio codecs, but im not sure what it was.

So does anyone know anything that i could do to check if
i have the codecs needed and where to download them from,
or if it could be another problem.
