I have a web site that has been working fine until yesterday... When I try
to open the home page from the local file all I get is the "Getting file:
///C:/<filename and path here> from server..." message - nothing ever
displays. When I preview the page in the browser it looks fine. I have
tried reinstalling FP2003 - no effect... Another oddity that may help - when
I try to open other .htm pages that are part of that same web site locally
the page opens but graphics don't display (just the empty box placeholder).
Any ideas?

You have been creating / editing pages without first opening the web.
You *must* open FrontPage and then click File > Open Web ( Open Site in FP 2003 ) and then create
new pages or open old pages to edit.

I tried what you suggest: File -> Open Site
No individual files show up in the dialog box - just the subfolders that
exist in that directory. What is the extension for a Site? I hit enter
anyway and the list of files in that directoy came up, but when I tried to
open the home page (main.htm in this case) I got the same results - both
frames empty (the website uses frames) and just the "Getting file..." message
in both frames.

Something else that's odd that may help - if I completely shut down windows,
the next time I try this the files are displayed when I start Front Page 2003
(since it was the last web site open) and when I open main.htm it opens
correctly. If I close FP2003 at that point and then start it again, I get no
files displayed (like the web site isn't open) and when I open the web site
and try to open main.htm I get nothing but the "Getting file..." messages...

The only thing I can think of that I did on the system near when this
started was to install and then remove an HP 2100 printer driver (which took
a loooooooong time for some reason). I thought it may have wacked some files
that FP uses, but since I have reinstalled FP since then and still have the
problem it seems unlikely.

Thanks for helping...
