If normal font is Ariel size 10, how can one word be typed Bold size 11
for emphasis??

You can't. Use WordPad instead.

It is a plain ASCII editor. No Rich Text Formatting. That's the whole idea -- text only.

You're welcome.

Since one can type the whole message as Ariel- Bold-11 in "Notepad", I
thought one should be able to ephasize "*one word*" in "Notepad" but
"no" as you say...
Dave Patrick's suggestion solves my problem..
Thanks anyway,
Willard
