Hi Guys,

I am going to ask a stupid question again.

Why does the line scroll not work properly in Notepad, that is located as an
integral part of W2K? By that, I mean the speed adjustment is clearly not working
correctly when one pulls down to a certain point and the print takes off like the
space shuttle. I use other third party notepads like Notetab, which are a pretty
darn good utilities. But there are some places that it's too much trouble to figure
out how to set it as the default program.

As most of your guys know, I trade as an avocation ( my primary vocation is getting
in, putting the pieces back together, and selling businesses ). I guess, if I wasn't
such an "hands on" kinda guy, I'd just say to someone, "that's your job, now let's
go to work" Kidding aside, there may be an easy explanation, but I've never gotten
Dragon Speaking well enough to change over to it either. Well, if you saw how fat my
fingers are, you'd probably say, "take a week off and learn to use Dragon". 13 1/2
ring. Girls like it, but it's not good for typing or working on pooters.

After my rambling, sorry; if ya point me, I'll try to be a good student.

thanks sooo much,
don

I surely wish I could program. I know how to make a ton of money, but I'm jealous,
NO, envious of you guys that know all the neat tricks. Well, thank god for you. I
for one appreciate and certainly respect you each and every one.

How are you navigating in Notepad? From your description, it sounds like you
are using the scroll bars. Normally, I would recommend just using the
keyboard navigation keys. It's kind of hard to go wrong with Page Down. When
I mouse around, I favor using the scroll wheel to crawl down a document, at
about the speed I read it.

I do to, but in trading, sometimes I need t o adjust the speed up and down .
Sometimes go up and down 8 to 10 times per minute. It has just been on my mind for a
long while and 3rd party programs works perfectly. Amazing.

thx

(this involves great sums of money on the line, like half a million a day net in up
to fifty different types of trade types)

I must be missing your point. On my system, with a large text file,
scrolling down with Notepad proceeds at a constant rate; it never
accelerates. Word97, with the same text file, proceeds at a rate that
accelerates quite rapidly.

Or, if you're scrolling down by holding the cursor over the downarrow
button at the bottom of the scroll bar, maybe your cursor is wandering
into the gray area above the button and scrolling many lines at a time.

Notepad is a very simple program. Most settings AFAIK are hardwired.

Perhap$ with zillion$ at stake you $hould no$e around the regi$try and
$ee what if any appearance$ notepad.exe make$ therein, and to what
effect? :-)
