Notebook will not resume from suspend mode

I have an HP Omnibook XE3 notebook running Windows XP.
When I put my system in suspend mode and I turn it back
on it locks up at a blank desktop with a mouse cursor.
I have searched the knowledge base but could not find
anything to help me.

Try suspend mode after closing all opened applications. Suspend on
several of my systems will not resume properly if Outlook Express and
Excel are open. Run Disk Cleanup and then Defragmentor. See if this
helps.
