I'm using Word for mac 12.1.2.
Whenever I need to re-arrange a detailed multi-layered section of an outline
Word removes all the formatting of the copied and pasted text. By "all the
formatting" I am referring both to text formatting (bold, italics) and
structural formatting (all the text is on the same level). This is especially
frustrating when I have a highly detailed outline that maxes out to all 9
levels (tabs). While I'm on the subject, why does Word only allow 9 levels?
What is interesting is that if I copy the text into document layout view the
formatting is saved. Notebook layout view has some great features, like the
ability to minimize sections of the outline. Is there any way to save the
view of an outline so that the next time I open it, it will display that same
view? So, for example if I minimize the highest levels of the outline, in
order to see the structure/outline of the outline, can I save that view so
when I re-open the document I still have that "big picture" view? If this
were the case, notebook layout view would be the the clear choice and a far
more powerful tool (especially for law students).
