The hd in my dell notebook is damaged and needs to be replaced. Can I
replace it with any laptop hd, are all note book hds compatible?

Thanks

what is the model for the notebook
but just guessing most new notebook drives will work.

As a general rule YES.. just make sure you have the correct adapters etc..
If you ron a DELL. depending on the make / model there fairly simple to
replace. (Especially if it's a Lattitude) ..

When the hard drive on my notebook (Dell Inspiron 8000) failed, I
replaced it with a 30GB Fujitsu MHT2030AT bought from a university
computer store. I don't recall the original drvie was, but it
wasn't Fujitsu.

Thank you all very much for your replies.

I have an Inspiron 2650, and the original drive is a Hitachi DK 30 GB. I'm
considering the Fujitsu MHT-AH MHT2040AH 40GB 5400 RPM 8MB -- $65. Any
recommendations for something comparable at a lower price? I wouldn't mind
another 30GB as I don't really store huge files on the notebook.

Thanks again.

Well, I paid over a hundred for mine (in Canada). I don't remember
exactly how much, could be even as high as $140 or $170. But that
was 1.5 years ago. I would be surprised if you can get anything
that small in capacity now.
