I've downloaded an update from the Java site but the 126MB file is
in .bin format. Could you guys help me out?

You downloaded an update for the wrong operating system. Go back to this
link:

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

and click on the link to download Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6
Update 3 which is towards the middle of the page. This will take you to
a page where you can choose one of the first two Windows files for
Offlne or Online installation. The file extension is .exe.

Gosh! After checking the site, realized it for Solaris x86 sys,.
