Stoyan Mechkarov

Hi,

If I do not specifie http:// infront of the web page that I want to open in
the address bar of IE it crashes. So if I type www..... only it becomes not
responding if I type http://www.. then it is working perfect.

My operating system is XP Pro, IE is 6 SP1 with the latest Feb update.

Is it fixable?

Check the below Registry entries vs. yours:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPrefix]
Default="http://"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

If that isn't the problem, Using Regedit, browse to the following registry
key and make sure the noted setting is correct:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoComplete]
"Append Completion"="yes"

also see the following values:

"Use AutoComplete"="yes"
"AutoSuggest"="no"

I'm afraid I don't know, unless maybe restarting the computer helps.
