You are installing software which is years old and hasn't been supported for
the longest time. It was written for Windows 95..

Try Open Office.. www.openoffice.org

Office 97 is 12 years old. That's roughly 6 generations, in computer
years. It's not very realistic to expect it to be Vista-compatible.
The earliest version of Office supported on Vista is Office 2003.

Actually, the "big 3" of Office '97: Access, Excel and Word work just fine
on my Vista machines (32- and 64-bit) and on both of my Window 7RC machines
(32- and 64-bit).

I've used Office 2000 Professional with Vista and no issues. Don't use
Outlook though.

My mistake. Thanks for the correction. But doesn't Outlook 2000 have
problems with remembering passwords on Vista?

Then perhaps you should advise the OP on how to fix his problem, as
you've experience with this particular combination.

Since my installations of the Office '97 programs: Access, Excel and Word
have had no problems - just how can I help the OP?

Perhaps uninstalling Office '97 and then installing only those programs one
needs (i.e, Access, Excel, Power Point and Word) will solve the problem.

It would certainly be worth a try if these are the only programs the OP
needs.

Hope this helps!
