Not Installing

"This software requires GDI+. Please load Windows 2000 Security Software
PreRequisite Pack."
Error when attempting to install Windows Defender. Windows XP SP2 installed
all critcal updates applied as per Windows UPdate.

As far as i'm aware a GDI update is installed as a Windows Critical updates
Anyone any ideas?
All help apprecicated!!
