Not enough memory

The situation is as follows: I have a fairly large Excel
file opened(1.7 MB), and can open another large Excel file
(1.2MB) in the same folder, with no problems. If, however,
I attempt to open another Excel file in another folder
larger than around 200K, with only the one larger file
already opened, I get the message "Not enough memory"! My
computer RAM is at 256MB, so where am I running low on
memory?? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi!

Are you working in any way with a workbook loaded directly from a
external store (e.g. floppy disk; flash disk)?

If so: copy the workbook to your hard disk before you open it.
