Size/memory limitations for vlookup fixed in the new Excel?

I am using vlookup to pull values from another worksheet in office. If the
file gets to large in the lookup file I get a memory error. This is both in
2000 and 2003. My files will be getting a lot larger and I need to know if
this has been addressed in the new office.

Also, Excel was limited to around 50k rows. Has this been increased?

Could be you do not have enough memory in that computer, and/or you may have
other things running that is consuming your memory..........does the same
file act the same way on another computer?

Yes it is the same on any computer. It is a known issue because I did some
research on it at length a while back. You get the error when it trys to
update the linked data. It seems there isn't enough memory allocation for the
vlookup.

Also as to the second part of my question. I think the 50k row limitation
has been a known issue for quite some time.
