not connecting after the last round of updates

I got the last round of updates for a machine and now it will not connect to
the internet. IE8 setup will connect and download and install, but will not
connect after setup is done. The machine says it has a IP, but everything
times out with no connectivity. What am i missing here?

Do you mean your ping attempts time out - or using Internet Explorer 8?

If you haven't - can you PING websites?

Firefox and/or other alternate browsers work?

Do you use an email client and (if so) does that work?

Have you updated the hardware device drivers from the hardware device
manufacturer's web pages for your network device hardware? (Use another
computer to do so - or another browser.)

Have you uninstalled IE8?

ie8 setup works ans installs but i have to get the exe file from a usb stick
but it downloads what it needs when installing but nothing else can get out.
IE7,IE8,Firefox, updates, nothing gets out. it says i have a cood connection
and valid ip. but gives me a 12029 error for http, https, and ftp when i run
the IE diag. No email client and no ping, and it is totally updated.

Hi mike3point2,

Are you using a third-party firewall? If so, update the firewall rules
for IE.
