Not being allowed to edit text on a slide

I am trying to edit text on a slide which shows a small flow chart. Although
this should be very straightforward for some reason it will not allow my to
make any edits?? It was originally created in an earlier version of office -
I am using 2007. When I right click the whole flowchart is selected as one
item and I cannot get into the individual boxes. This has been previously
edited by someone else.

I haven't worked with 2007, but the symptom is one that suggests that
the items may have been grouped and converted to a 'picture' somewhere
along the line - maybe in the translation to 2007. Version 2003
allows pictures created from a group of objects in another application
to be decomposed into objects again - though not necessarily without
some alteration from the original.

Try right-clicking the object and see if this doesn't provide an 'Edit
picture' option. When selected, a dialog requesting confirmation for
the conversion should appear. Say yes. This used to work in 2003 -
don't know if it's still supported in 2007. Following the conversion,
the text should be editable again, though you may find many
duplication of the converted objects. So working with this conversion
can be problematic.
