not able to send or receive mail

I am not able to send or receive mail in my Outlook 2000. I can however in my
Outlook Express.

Problem is, all my folders and history is in Outlook.

About a week ago, the mail just stopped coming. Clicking on Send/Receive
does nothing and my last five mails I sent prior to this, is lying in Outbox.
Each time I close Outlook and re-open, the emails in there get sent again. To
the point where each time our IT guy or myself opens up Outlook, the mail is
despatched.

I am not able to move items in my Inbox to their respective folders as it
says "Can't move the items" and when trying to open the items in Outbox, it
says "Can't Open this item. The MAPI spooler has already begun transmitting
this message."

I am able to log onto the internet, receive mail by Express and log onto the
server, so it's not a server problem as all the settings are fine.

I am really at a loss with what to do, please help me!

I have the exact same problem that started a week prior also. In fact I have
two machines my desktop is running XP Home with Office XP and has no problems
but my laptop running XP Pro and Office 2003 no longer sends or receives
email via my Road Runner account (POP3/SMTP). It was about that time that I
downloaded updates for outlook express. Using the restore function has not
resolved the issue. Any insight leading to resolution would be greatly
appreciated.

My problem was solved by restoring my firewall settings to default in Norton
Internet Security, once I reliazed that I had also updated it around the same
timeframe.

In Outlook, File->Work Offline. Completely close Outlook (use task manager)
Open Outlook and delete the file from your outbox. Uncheck Work Offline.

After furious head scratching, robie grossman asked:

| My Outlook is frozen I use Outlook Express, I tried to download some
| pictures and send them as an attachment to an email. That was it! It
| is frozen in my outbox and I cannot delete it. I haven't gotten any
| messages in over a month. Please help and what info do you need.
