I found I wasn't able to run Scandisk. I went through the
given procedure (from Start). I checked ScandiskExe and
clicked select. It couldn't be found.
I checked in the MSDOS directory, and it was listed. I
clicked on the filename and the msdos screen flashed on
the screen but Scandisk didn't run???
Could downloading an update change the use of Scandisk?

Windows XP does not include scandisk (it has been replaced by chkdsk), nor
does it include scandisk.exe or a folder called MSDOS.

Please post your question in the correct newsgroup for your version of
Windows.

Rocky,
I found three files listed as chkdsk. I clicked on the
one in the windows folder, and it worked fine.

Thank you!

Glad to be of help. Here's an easier way to run chkdsk:

Open My Computer and right-click on the drive you want to check. From the
context menu select Properties. When the properties sheet opens, select the
Tools tab. Error Checking is the first choice.
