Copy the PST file to your hard drive in the location you want it to live
(c:\data\outlook). Right click on it in Explorer, remove the read only
attribute. Open Outlook, go to file | open....open the file.

I have done that already.
The read attribute is removed and it still gives the same
message."Outlook.pst is not a personal folder.

I have very important emails in there and I need to retrieve it

Run scanpst.exe against it & see if it finds errors.
How did you copy the file/burn the CD?
