Norton Version 9 Corporate Edition

We use UNIX servers, including mail (Cyrus IMAP). We need desktop protection
for our 50 Windows users, many of whom use notebook computers that are
frequently disconnected from the LAN and used on the road/at home. We use
Clam AV on the UNIX mail server (although UNIX mail servers are unaffected
by Windows viruses, of course).

I purchased Norton Antivirus 9 Corporate Edition based on the recommendation
from Norton sales staff.....not so sure this is the right product. I
installed several clients as standalone (unmanaged) last night.

Does this product have the same Auto-Protect, auto protection updates and
email protection features of Norton Antivirus 2004? It doesn't seem to scan
outbound mail automatically. The manual says IMAP isn't supported - only
POP3. And it doesn't seem to run LiveUpdate automatically for virus
definitions. Is this a correct assessment?

Thanks for any insight in advance.

Norton Corporate DOES NOT WORK WITH OUTLOOK EXPRESS. It only works with
Outlook.

NOD32 would've been cheaper, works with nearly all mail clients and has
a Unix client too.

Well, you certainly wouldn't have done well purchasing their commercial
retail product ;).

Why did you go the unmanaged route? The best way to insure the product
is updated is to push updates to the client machines. Even laptops are
connected to the LAN sometimes. I'm a mobile user whose updates are
pushed to my machine.

1. It has auto protect features. You just have to set them. As an admin,
you should restrict the settings which you allow client machines to control.

2. I believe it only scans outbound mail on exchange servers. I may be
wrong.

3. Live update can be scheduled to run at predetermined times.
