Norton the OVERWHELMING #1 AV choice amongst broadband users

Here are a couple non-magazine AV polls by broadband users (registered and
non-registered) that responded at www.dslreports.com

Give it a rest, Chas. I can assure you that Symantec will remain in
business for a very long time even without your efforts.

In addition there are several discussion threads available to anyone that
augment the poll results.

It is #1 mainly because it is all people know about. Did you also realise
these polls are literally years old? I'm sure symantec don't need you to
shove it down everyones throats how good it is seeing as it's the best
selling AV product in the world. *Note* - the best selling product, not
necessarily the best product before you start beating your meat to something
good said about Norton.

Marketing plays a large part in Norton's popularity. Same could be
said for McAfee. If Chas thinks that Norton (or any other product is
"best", than he is less informed than even the reader of a.c.v.
realize.

The fact is, there are 3 or 4 really good AV products, including
Norton. Each has it's own particular featured which make it preferred
by one person or another. For example, I have two favorites, KAV Lite,
simply because of it's high detectiion rate and unpacking technology
and Nod32 for it's features and small footprint.

Norton, although it has a decent detection rate, has an awful
interface with the silly and useless graphics, etc which is why I
don't use it.

Incidently, the corporate version of Norton is really excellent and
it's unfortunate that the folks at Symantec don't realize that it
would probably sell much better than their current commercial version
if the interface were the same.

That is true and is correct with just about any product. We have
moved into an era where that "Best" product (One Thinks) is the one
that has the most power behind its marketing, promotion and
advertising. You can sell Rat Turds to the American Public if you
dress them up real pretty and put enough ads out there telling
everyone that the whole world has gone bonkers over these Rat Turds
and anyone that is anybody at all, has one and if you don't yet have
one then, well... your just not with it.....

If I ever learn to program to the point that I could create an
anti-virus package, rest assured that it will be named "Rat Turd
Anti-Virus".

"Non-magazine" or not, it's simply a poll of end users, which means
only that it sells a lot of copies. It has nothing to do with
performance tests.

A lot of people bought the Yugo too.....

I read some of the posts. You think some of those folks might be playin'
with less than a full deck?
Anyway, your point is?

Thank you for asking what my point is. Simply to post 2 URL's for
non-magazine AV poll results.

Recently there was a big stink in here about some recent magazine AV test
results which also showed Norton in a favorable light and I think #3 or #4
in the top ten of that test. Of course all the "Norton-Haters" jumped on
that and discounted those results as jaded and as typical untrustworthy
"magazine results"

So I stumbled across these two "non-magazine" AV polls and posted them for
info and also to observe the Norton-Haters in action.
This time they also bitched and moaned and complained that these results
were wrong and meaningless just as they discounted the magazine test
results.

My point is to demonstrate that even if Jesus Christ (or pick your favorite
God-like entity) declared Norton to be best or posted his test results
showing the same results that these same "Norton-Haters" would belch and
spew out the same regurgitated bullshit they always do ...

That was my point and thank you so much for asking!!!! And thanks to the
Norton-Haters for being so pathetically predictable again and again and
again!!!!
