Norton Speed Disk: "....Unable to access drive C"

W

WGD

OS = XP-MCE
2G RAM
Plenty of Disk

Unable to run Norton Speed Disk on drive 'C'. Error msg askes that I check
to see if another application has the drive locked.

Applications, programs, etc on 'C' run fine. Thus what might "lockout"
Speed Disk?

Tks!

All apps were closed - 'ONLY' open item was Norton.

You examined msconfig for the various startups / checked task manager
proccesses ?
Does NU run in safe mode? - I'm afraid I dumped NU some time ago so dont
recall.

Ok! Lucky am I. Then I defrag with MS's utility? Better off this way??

Ref DL's reply: NU does not run in a safe mode. As for configuring
startups under msconfig, I do not know anything about how, what to do here.
Or do I know/understand what to do re task manager processes.

If you want to defrag - and you do - then either use the disk defragmenter
in XP which is a cut down version of Executive Software Diskeeper, or get
Diskeeper full version.

mikeyhsd

take a look at
Auslogics Disk Defrag.
works on XP , Pro and Vista 32 and 64 bit.
also gives that neat little shuffling boxes picture.
