Norton Firewall - MS ACCESS

Hi,

it takes about 3 Minutes to start MS ACCESS when "Norton Internet Security"
is activated.

When I deactivate "Norton Internet Security" I have no speed problems.

Maybe this is the wrong NG - but since I have this problem only with MS
ACCESS I am posting here.

It makes sense, if Norton is going to do some big security check, then there
is not much you can do.

I was under the impression that you can configure Norton to ignore, to NOT
check mdb, or mde files.

You state that you have no problems with other programs...but likely they
are not multi-user network database systems either...kind of like talking
about a little gully and the grand canyon...they both are gully...but really
apples and oranges...

I can't imagine that you would consider a multi-user network database system
the same as other software. Further, those access database files tend to be
much larger in size then other files like Excel etc also. Large files, and
the fact that you are access a file across a network which is FAR FAR slower
then a hard disk would also explain the delays.

Anyway...try checking the options in Norton...I don't have it on this
pc...but I think you can turn off individual applications or file extensions
from the virus scan.
