norton does not allow changes to setting

When I load norton to the system, I have no control over the functions....says I need supervisor access...how does one get supervisor access and why cant I change the settings as administrator...thnks
 
Have you spoken to Symantec regarding this?
Have you checked out the manual/help files for the
program?
