Norton AV - Good alternatives

I'm an ex Norton AV user, that is to poor system performance after
installing the 2004 version...Funny eh? Just paied for one year subscription
and not using it, simply uninstalled it and gained back missing performance.

Now looking for smart alternatives: light, non intrusive, fast, reliable.

Any suggestion? (Possibly from ex Norton AV users.)

Symantec NIS 2005 works very fine and saves you all the hazzle of building
separate layers of security with other brands and manage these,
but yes, you need to have a actual PC (1Ghz + and 256mb memory I would say)

Perhaps you need to change what Norton is checking.
Are you just using the anti-virus part or do you have Norton Systemworks.
If you are using NSW, there are several things to disable.

Computer Associates eTrust EZ Antivirus, simply the best stand alone av out
there in my opinion, it's fast, efficent and very light on system resources.

I changed from Norton to NOD32 with no regrets.

I would put Kaspersky up against EZ Antivirus any day and when you see the
results you will be shocked how many viruses EZ Antivirus misses over
Kaspersky.

I tried Kaspersky once. It seems to take "forever" to do a complete scan
of my hard drive.

I have tried and used Kaspersky in the early years, I thought it was an okay
av, very resource heavy and clunky to use and very slow scanning, detection
rate very good, but EZ av has been the absolute best av program I have ever
used, it has never failed me, I will always use EZ av, trying out the
newcomers from time to time just to see what all the fuss is about, then
returning to EZ, where I know my computer is protected.

Symantec Coporate v9 the detection of Symantec, but doesn't hog resources.

saying my definition are not up to date and I up date all the time. Wish I
had my old AVG back. I think the reason I got a virus with AVG was that I
didn't have it updated at the right time...

That sound kinda funny. You don't like NAV precisely because it is trying to avoid the problem that you
had with AVG?
