have changed to xp from windows 98se, running norton
antivirus. With 98 Auto protect stayed on , with xp it
goes off every time i turn computor off . Any
suggestions? thanks Pauline

Hi Pauline,

Um, why shouldn't it turn off when the system is turned off? Or are you
saying that after turning it off, when you restart the system, it is not
enabled? If this is the case, then what you have is a conflict. Is this the
latest version of Norton's? Older ones do not function well with WinXP. Have
you tried symantec support yet for assistance with their product?

You mean that the NAV autoprotect disengages on shutdown and won't
autostart when pc starts. A question is did you remove NAV before
upgrading to Winxp? If not, you will need to do this as certain
features are not compatible to Winxp. Simply uninstall, then remove
the folders from the temp folder that Norton installed as well as
under "Common files" and Program files/norton and program
files/symantec. If the system throws up a warning and asks if you
still want to remove answer Yes. Close My Computer. Open Registry
editor and remove any Keys that refer to norton or symantec. Restart.
Reinstall the NAV
