Hi, my current subscribtion for the two programs Norton Antivirus and
Firewall both expire in a day, and Im wondering if there is a way of
unistalling, and then reinstalling the programs so I get another year, as I
believe it is not right that I have to pay again.

Will I have to do something within the registry,

Thanks

Interesting that you would make public the fact that you're a thief or your
desire to be one.

Dave - to email me replace "spam" with "comcast"

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are
dull, some
have weird names, and all are different colors but they all have to learn to
live in the same box.

No, A subscription is $29.95. An upgrade to 2005 version is $39.95.
Do you have separate NAV & Personal Firewall or Norton Internet
Security Suite ? If you have separate packages, you would be faced
with subscriptions for each.

I would uninstall all Symantec and get different programs to protect
your system. My suggestion is a 1-Year free copy of CA eTrust 7.0
and Zone Alarm free. Your out of pocket cost = Zero.

No, you can't do it. Not paying for something is STEALING - you're not
paying the full price for the software licence - only a subscription for the
AV signature updates (the actual program updates are free).

You believe it's not right that the engineers who are working daily updating
the virus detection patterns and updating the firewall don't get paid? You
are using a service and yet you think you shouldn't have to pay for it?
Then you have the cohones to enter a public forum and ask for help in
stealing? Have you ever used your brain for anything other than a hatrack?

You are scum.

Why don't you tuck your tail between your legs and go download one of the
free ones?

I personally hope your system gets infected with something that renders it
totally useless. You deserve it.

You are a thief.

I rented my apartment for a year, and my lease is up tomorrow.
I'm wondering if there's a way of staying here and getting
another year for free, as I believe it is not right that I have
to pay again.

If you buy the Corporate Edition 9, it doesn't expire every year, my
version 7.6 systems still update - it does cost more to purchase, but
the cost is less than updates every year.

What you propose to do is a form of theft, and not too many people here
will be all that willing to be a party to it. However, there are plenty
of free alternatives available.

When my subscription to Symantec's updates for Norton Internet Security
2002 came up for renewal (at a cost substantially higher than the
preceding year's subscription), I decided to try less expensive
solutions. I downloaded and installed the free version of GriSoft's AVG
(http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php ) and the free version of
Sygate's Personal Firewall (http://smb.sygate.com/free/default.php ).
Both have proven to be easily installed, easy to use, and quite
effective. Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised to see a small but
very noticeable improvement in my PC's performance, once I'd replaced
the Symantec products.

there would be 2 ways.
1. remove windows and install it again. you don't wanna do that i suppose.
2. uninstall norton and run a registry cleaner. hopefully will erase from
registry everything about norton. the, reinstall norton and get another year
for free...
let me know if it worked.

look for a free registry cleaner in www.download.com or even in
www.google.com. I think that CCleaner 1.16.082 would do the job for you.

good luck.

Thanks for your friendly replies!

There are some very bitter people in this group isnt there, you all had a
bad day or what?

I only asked a question, there was no need for all the bitcheness, and as
for calling me scum, get off your ****in high horse, your going to sit there
and tell me you have never had some form of illegal goings on in your
lifetime, and you are MR/MRS perfect, I very much doubt it.

A simple message saying this is illegal would have done.
