Norton Antivirus: All definitions downloaded, but virus defintions not checked off

Something funny happened: NortonAntivrus data on the last time I had
done a virus scan was incorrect; update service subscription date was
incorrct and some other data in the antivirus window was incorrect.

So, I reinstalled Norton SystemWorks.

Now, not as much is odd, but it says last virus found was 9250 days ago.
Incorrect!!.

But what troubles me more is that although I seem to have downloaded all
the virus defintions, the virus definitions data does not show the green
check mark. You would think I need to download definitions, but I
don't. I've got 64,909.

Anyone know what's wrong. I have no idea why all the data went haywire.
I have been messing with BootMagic and Partition Magic of late. I don't
have any viruses according to Norton Antivrus.

Interstingly enough, days left till subscription expires is given as
367. I really don't have that long. I wonder if reinstalling altered
something on that score. Should not have.

The date is correct for the virus definitions (27/08/03, English),
it's just that it is not checked off with green tick mark. So I get
prompted to connect to liveupdate when I boot PC.

Status is not changing: Why? Because although the date of the virus
definitions date is correct, ie, up-to-date; when I right click on virus
definitions under "status items" I read:" Your virus definitions are
8768 days old. you should run liveUpdate to update your virus
protection".

So my virus definitions are current, according to the date, yet they are
reported as 8768 days old. What is the fix? TIA. Rich.
