alright i believe something is wrong with my norton
antivirus. I've tried the steps on their site to fix it
and it doesnt work so i came to you guys.

I currently cant update my antivirus definitions. I
always get this error.

LU1806: LiveUpdate was not able to install any of the 2
updates that you selected. For more information please
click the "+" sign next to the update(s) that did not
install. All available updates were selected. Click here
for more information on this error

and when i press the + sign i get this.

LU1821: LU1821: This update failed because it tried to
overwrite a file that was in use. Close all of your
Symantec applications and run LiveUpdate again. Click
here for more information on this error

I dont really know how to fix this error even after trying
their guide to fixing it and im hoping you guys would
know . thanks

The usual advice, from symantec, is to uninstall. Completely, manually,
remove all refs to NAV then clean reinstall.
By clean they mean with all startups stopped, and even sometimes to starting
in VGA mode
There are details on symantec on how to completely remove, there may also be
an uninstall utility.

The simplest thing to try before the almost inevitable uninstall -reinstall
is to delete all files from the temp directory liveupdate is using:
Do a search for 'LiveUpdate' and find the folder with Symantec .zip
file or files in it. Delete all the files (Not the folder) and run LiveUpdate
again.

If this fails, try this link on the web site that describes how to repair
liveupdate:

http://service1.symantec.com/Support/sharedtech.nsf/docid/2003092610290513

It's complicated but it worked for me.
