Norton and XP upgrade

Missy

In the past I upgraded from 98 2nd edition to XP home
edition. Over the weekend, I installed Norton
Antivirus. It wouldn't complete the install and shut
down the computer. When I turned it back on all my icons
were gone, I had a error message saying I needed to
consult the Norton data base but when I tried to do this
Norton said it was closing down. It rebooted and closed
down again. I went in under safemode and checked
hardware which was ok. I then checked to see if the
apps were gone. They were still there, only the icons
were missing. In the middle of this, Norton said it was
shutting down. I went back thru safe mode and tried to
uninstall Norton (the portions that were there) and it
shut me down. Help. Is this a compatibility issue. I
do get email thru my notebook. thanks

Missy

well if you call norton for tech support they may help out, so start there
first. if they say its a microsoft issue then you will have to format and
reinstall (its not the only way but it makes things easier)....Just make
sure you backup your data first!

Also let us know if you manage to get Norton support on the line. It will
make you a very unique individual.
