Norton and XP Security

I just installed Norton 2004, and after I did that I
cannot run any exes. I can run files that are associated
with them, like running an mp3 brings up winamp, but if I
try to run winamp.exe directly, either from a shortcut or
double clicking on the file, it says winamp.exe cannot be
found. If I right click on an exe and select run as I can
diasble a security option about unauthorized files, and
then the file will run. I cannot find how to turn down
the security level in Windows or with Norton so than I can
run exes again without having to manually diable the
option everytime.

This is not something that Windows would just have turned on. If you
uninstall Norton does it go back to Normal? If so this is probably a
question better answered by Norton as to why such a behavior occured.
