Normal view and Web Layout view

I have Windows XP (Home). When I click on "New",
Microsoft Word opens up with the "Web Layout" as the
default view. I want it to open up with the "Normal"
view. How do I change the default? I have looked all
through the Help menus and can not find the answer.

Aren't these newsgroups monitored by Microsoft? Can someone from
Microsoft please address this?
