normal.dot problems HELP!

I just loaded SR3 for Office 2002 and am now having the
following problem. I can recreate this error over and
over again. I can open up word and open a file with
images attached and the images are locaded where they are
suppose to be. Then I go into outlook and create a
message (outlook is setup to have word as my email
editor). Once the email is sent I go back and open up
the same document that had images attached to it and they
are all mislocated to the upper left of the page.
Outlook is changing the normal.dot file somehow when I
send the email. If I then go back and delete the
normal.dot file and open word and the file with the
pictures attached all of the images are again located
properly.

Does anyone have any idea what is happening in outlook
that is causing it to do something to the normal.dot file?

I have been able to make it stop if I change the compose
this message format in: from html to rich text. That
seems to have solved the problem. Still I would like to
know why it happens when it is set to html?
