Non-signed Difference between 2 cells

rather than having to code:
=IF(A1-B1<0,(A1-B1)*-1,(A1-B1))
or
applying special formating to the cell to suppress the "-" sign,

Surely there must be a worksheet built-in function to give me the difference
between two cells.

Can anyone help?
