non local domain account in AD

Hi,

Is it possible to add non-domain user accounts to Active Directory to give
them permissions?
I want to do this, because we have a website where users log in with their
email adres, which is not ours (example: (e-mail address removed)).
I want to give these users ftp-space on our server, but I do not want to
bother them with a new login.
Is there a way to achieve this, or is this not possible with Active
Directory?

Thanks for any help

There may be methods to do this, such as creating domain accounts for the
users which have the same password, then later changing the
userPrincipalName attribute (using ADSIEDIT.MSC from the Support Tools) on
that account to allow the same domain name they currently have (if it is
dissimilar to the Windows domain's). Offhand, I'm not sure if that would
work correctly for authentication since the UPN would not match.

It would probably be best to simply give them a new account along the naming
convention of your Windows domain, despite the inconvenience this may create
for them short term.

Yes, indeed... I was "affraid" that this wasn't an option....
Thanks for your reply.
