Non-English Windows?

TCook

Hello All,

I have an internationalization question:

How can one tell what language version of Windows is installed on a user's
desktop?

I know that I'm using the English version of Windows and I know that Windows
comes in different languages. However, when I right click 'My Computer',
select 'Properties', there is no mention of the language version.

Thanks,

TC

You can't tell what the language is by looking at it?

That depends on the installation type (MUI or similar add-on).

Check the file properties of "Kernel32.dll" (Language). Or type at
the command prompt: netsh diag show os /v

"OSLanguage = 1031" stands for German (Standard), for instance.
"1033" stands for English (US). See also this table of Locale IDs:

You need to have someone who can identify written language to take a look at
the user's screen and tell you what language the user interface is in.)
