Non-destructive system restore performed; users out in limbo

I did a non-destructive system restore to fix major problems that were
cropping up. (It was suggested by a HP tech.). During startup, when it asked
for a user name, I changed it from what it was before the restore. Now, the
users are out in limbo. I created new users with the same name, but all it
did was create a new user and added .<computer name> to the end. How can I
get it to use the original users?

Please help! It's already been an -incredibly- stressful night and this
extra stuff is about to send me over the top. Someone, anyone, please help
me!

Hi,

Essentially, you can't recover the old accounts. What you CAN do is copy the
data from the original profiles to the new accounts.
