Non Compatible Programs

Ok, So I upgraded to Vista x86 from XP SP2. In doinf so, Vista identified 2
programs that were incompatible but I moved forward with the upgrade anyway.
Now I cannot run the uninstall program for these two programs because they
are incompatible. How do i remove these? Is the only way to edit the registry
and then delete the actual files?

Thankxs!!

What are the programs? Perhaps there is another workaround before getting
under the hood.

Adobe Audition Version 1 and Version 2

On a related Topic, I tried to install my McAfee for XP - I got the "non
compatible" error message and accidentally clicked run program rather than
cancel - It launched into the install program, which I could not cancel out
of. I was able to take them out of start-up but now cannot install the MCAfee
for Vista because these are installed... same issue, I cannot run the
uninstall program because these are non-compatable....

It’s best to stay away from XP utility and security programs in Vista.
(Actually this is true of an OS beta). Vista has everything you need built
right in, except virus protection. But viruses are easy to avoid. Just don’t
download any dubious file or open any unnecessary while you’re in Vista.
Save that for the OS that has antivirus software.

Try to locate the particular uninstall files in the Program Files folder.
If they are MSI installs you might need to run setup.exe. When you locate
them, right click them and select Compatibility Mode, then run XP
compatibility. This is worth a try although it may not work.

Thanks Bob - I will try that for Audition. As for the McAfee... I finally
found teh restore points and took the registry back to before I accidentally
installed McAfree... now I will simplt delete the actual files and folders so
I can start clean.

Alan,

I like your optomism... I agree Vista has everything but virus software, but
to truly test the OS one does still need to be on the net and Virus
Protection is a MUST. I have been able to address this issue now hoever...
Thanks for your help!
