non active directory dnsa

We have a work group, and I set up dns using primary and
secondary zones. I then up dated one of the servers to a
domain server and the dns automatically changed to active
directory integrated.

My question is, can these coexist with primary and
secondary zones?

If not, is it better to reconfigure dns or to delete dns
(on the particluar server)and setup as a non active
directory zone.

Primary -- no.
Seconardies -- yes.
Make the current primary a Secondary (for now).

Within an internal network you must NOT mix "two primaries" or
equivalent. An AD integrated "set" of DNS servers is equivalent
to the single primary.

AD is better -- in general -- but it works either way. Convert the
primary to a secondary until you have another DC, then you can
run multiple AD Integrated DNS servers (a "set") for that zone and
gain even more benefit.
