noisy computer after installing xp

My fan drive won't stop now. Sony Vaio PCVLX 700. If
this is how it must be I'm going to return the software.

Any help?

Return opened software? I wonder which vendors permit that.

Alternately, visit the Sony web site:

Go to the support page for your model, and select "other OS". You'll find
SOG2303DAK.EXE, which installs XP compatible fan controller software. I'd
give you a link, but Sony's use of Java makes it awkward to locate the
actual URL for the file.

I don't own such a machine, so I can't say that I've tried the fan
controller.

While you're there, check for other XP compatible drivers fro you system.
Microsoft does not include, on the XP CD, every driver for every PC and
peripheral ever built.

XP places a higher demand on the CPU than other OS's. A "software cooler"
such as Waterfall or Rain may be in order in your case. Contact Sony and see
if they have any solution.

is this when in standby mode? - if so it may be because
you have a usb device set to wake computer - check in
device manager.
