No XP restore for compressed Win98 backup

I used Backup with compression under Windows 98 on one
computer planning to restore the files on a new computer
running Windows XP. XP dosen't have restore. I think it
uses Ntbackup, which the Knowledge Base said, by design,
doesn't handle compressed backups. In the KB, they said
to restore on a Windows 98 system. This is not practicle
for me.

Any other suggestions? Is there a way to download 98's
Restore? Will it run under XP? Will something like
WinZip decompress and restore these files?

You may have success restoring Win 9X backups (.qic files)
with Stomp BackupMYPC (formerly Veritas Backup Exec),
