No XP Disk from hp

My hp Pavilion PC came without a Windows XP HE (OEM) software CD. I
understand that's normal with hp. If I use an upgrade version of XP Pro to
do a clean install, will it ask for insertion of an HE disk (which I don't
have from hp) to prove prior ownership of HE qualifying me to purchase the
upgrade Pro version?
What do I do if asked for the disk? Do I have to get on from hp?

Shouldn't ask unless you clean install. The closest you'll get to clean
install is to restore the system (using the HP utility), then immediately do
the upgrade. Either case be sure to install SP2 or at least these before
connecting to any network.

HP help has a procedure for burning an installation CD one
time only from the hidden files on the hard drive.

Windows XP recovery CDs
HP Pavilions that ship with Windows XP do not always come
with recovery CDs. Instead, they use a hidden space
(partition) on the hard drive to store the recovery
information. Using a hidden partition provides a convenient,
more stable recovery process that eliminates the need for
fragile CDs that can become lost.

If you would still like to obtain recovery CDs, HP provides
the following options:

a.. Contact HP Customer Care and order a set of Windows XP
recovery discs.

a.. Some HP computers have recovery CD creator software
that can create one set of recovery discs. To see if your
computer has HP Recovery CD Creator software, click Start,
All Programs, Hewlett-Packard, and then HP Pavilion PC
Tools. HP PC Recovery CD Creator is listed if the software
is available. For more information, read the HP support
document Creating Recovery CDs Using HP's Recovery CD
Creator Software

Don't post binaries in a text newsgroup like this one. I didn't want
your crappy picture on my hard drive.

Then delete it, it isn't worth my time to alter those pages.
Set your news reader to text and you will just see the text,
with the binary as an attachment (which you should ignore).
Using HTML to read news is a good way to get infected.
