no xml nodes found of the form <example/>

I managed the article schema example in the first lesson and can now go no
further with Word's xml tools.
I am trying to create a useful schema and Word will only convert <example/>
to a an xml tag pair.
It studiously avoids all my other entries with the message above (unless I
put in <example/> of course, and then I get just the single pair of tags that
I don't want !).
I have erased all schema files, and ensured nothing is attached to my test
documents.
Where is this pesky request coming from ???

Could we have a discussion group for Word XML ??

There is an Office XML discussion group (link below).
Be sure to include the version of Word you're using
(only Word 2003 from Office Professional and Word 2003
standalone have support of adding a schema beyond the
built-in for WordProcessingML.

Also, please provide a link or reference to which article
and which lesson you're referring to :)
