No Wireless Device

First off, I do know my way around computers. Here is my predicament:
I have an acer Aspire 5610 and the intel pro/wireless 3945 card crapped out
on me. So I stole the one out of my brothers computer to make sure it was
just that card. That works fine. So I ordered the intel pro/wireless 4965
card (supports n, and the connections are the same) Then I install said
device. But now am unable to turn on my wireless. When I go to flip the
switch to turn wireless devices on, it says "No Wireless Device". Does anyone
have any suggestions short of ordering the same card I had before (I have an
N router and would like to take advantage of that fact on my home network.

did you uninstall the drivers for the 3945...and install the drivers for the
4965??

Yes, that is correct I unstalled the 3945 and then Installed the 4965.

I managed to solve my own problem.

Here is what I had to do:
- Figured out that it was an issue where the BIOS would not support the 4965
card
- Talked to Pan-America Acer, and found that they did not support this card
in any way
- Looked at the European Acer site, and made sure that yes, they did support
this card
- Made Sure I had the latest BIOS from American site
- Discovered that the European site had an ftp server for driver/support
utilities
- Discovered an updated BIOS that isn't available on the main site
- Installed said BIOS
- The magical device now works again.

I have the Acer 5610-4610 that works fine, but the Intel 3945ABG wireless has
stopped working this past weekend for no reason other than the computer was
left alone. Vista Device Manager cannot find it except by manual install,
and then the driver installation fails. Downloaded several versions of Intel
drivers and Acer drivers, newest 11.1.1.32 dated 11/08/07. No luck because
device was not found.
My laptop still has 7 months left on the warranty. Acer says to use System
Restore to get back to before this happened. No change. Then Acer says only
thing left is to do a complete backup and then a Factory Reset to original
config from the recovery partition.
What do you suggest?

Personally i think that it is highly probable that it is just your wireless
card that is toast, however, since it is still on warranty, go ahead and try
a factory restore.
The only way this will help is to make sure that you have what would be a
garaunteed functional driver for your wireless card. If the factory restore
does not work, then I would say, yes your card is shot. Good luck, and make
sure to back your data up.

Was a temporary problem of bad contact. Guy at the store reseated card in
slot. Working fine. A mystery of why it failed over weekend when computer
not moved or used. Now I have to reconstruct all the program installations
and Vista settings.
