No Windows Startup/Exit sounds when starting up or shutting down

If log on as a Guest user i get both the Windows Startup
sound and Exit sounds when I log off. But when i start up
or shut down under my own username no sound is heard. My
sound settings are working OK and have no problems with
sound other than that.

Go to Control Panel, load "Sounds and Audio Devices", then click the "Sounds" tab. Play the "Start
Windows" and "Exit Windows" sounds. If they aren't pointing to the correct locations, you can fix
them. If they don't have sounds associated, you can associate them. Check if some of the other
sounds in here play. Post back here with your results.

All checks OK from the "Sounds" tab and the correct
sounds play-back when the play-back putton is clicked!!

You can try exporting and importing the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER/AppEvents/Schemes/Apps/.Default" key from
the account that works correctly. That might work. You might also want to check out the following
