No Video when importing

I am using a firewire connection. I can control the camcorder with the
controls from the program but am not recieveing any video or audio into the
program. The video and audio plays on the camcorder. HELP PLEASE
 
using default windows. i did find out though, i am needing to install a
third party program to be able to do it. my version of vista does not
support it. yippee
